These are approximate ranges, not quotes. They're based on typical Sacramento-area jobs. Your price depends on what we find at your home: panel condition, distance, access and permit fees. You'll get a written quote before any work starts.

Small jobs are priced by the job, not a running clock. Bigger work, like new circuits, panel changes and rewiring, includes the permit and the inspection in the quote. Access (finished walls and ceilings, stucco, crawlspaces) and what we find in older wiring are what move the number most.

Bringing an older home up to date

Many Sacramento homes were built before today's kitchens, EVs and heat pumps existed. When you remodel, add circuits or sell, these are the updates that come up most:

GFCI protection in kitchens, bathrooms, laundry areas, garages and outdoors.

AFCI protection on bedroom and living-area circuits when those circuits are extended or modified. See arc-fault breakers.

Residential electrician FAQ

Do I need a permit for home electrical work in Sacramento?

New circuits, panel work, EV chargers and most rewiring need a permit. Like-for-like replacements of an outlet, switch or fixture generally don't. We tell you up front and pull the permit when it's needed.

Can you add outlets to an older home without tearing up walls?

Usually, yes. We fish wire through existing walls, attics and crawlspaces, and keep openings small. If a patch is needed, we tell you before we start.

Should I replace two-prong outlets?

A two-prong outlet has no ground. The code-approved fixes are GFCI protection, which is labeled "No Equipment Ground", or running a new grounded circuit. Swapping in a three-prong outlet without a ground isn't safe or legal.

How do I know if my house needs rewiring?

Knob-and-tube wiring, brittle or damaged insulation, frequent problems on old circuits, or an insurer asking about the wiring are the usual signs. We can inspect and tell you what actually needs replacing. It's often not the whole house.
