Daniel’s team was super efficient with how they handled our job. Gave us a date, showed up on time and did what they said they would. Passed the inspection easy peasy.

Breaker keeps tripping? Outlet went dead? Lights flicker for no reason? A licensed electrician tracks down the real cause, quotes the fix before any work starts, and repairs it properly.

Most electrical problems in a home come down to a few causes: an overloaded circuit, a loose connection, a failed device or ground fault, or a problem at the panel or service. Finding which one it is takes testing, not guesswork.
Sagan Electric's licensed electricians trace the fault, explain what we found, and fix it with a clear price before the repair starts.
If you smell burning and can't find the source, or see smoke, leave the house and call 911 first.
| Symptom | Likely causes | How urgent |
|---|---|---|
| Breaker keeps tripping | Overloaded circuit, short, ground fault, worn breaker | Soon. Stop resetting it repeatedly. |
| Outlet or room went dead | Tripped GFCI upstream, loose backstab connection, failed device | Soon. Check for a tripped GFCI first. |
| Lights flicker in one spot | Loose bulb or fixture connection, bad switch or dimmer | Moderate |
| Lights dim when the A/C or a big appliance starts | Heavily loaded circuit or service, loose neutral | Moderate to urgent if it's whole-house |
| Warm outlet or switch, burning smell | Loose or overheating connection, overloaded device | Urgent. Turn off the circuit. |
| GFCI won't reset | Ground fault downstream, moisture, failed GFCI | Soon, especially outdoors or in a bathroom |
| Mild shock from a fixture or appliance | Ground fault, missing or broken ground | Urgent. Stop using it. |
flickering lights, burning smells from outlets and breaker replacement.
| Job | Approximate range |
|---|---|
| Service call / diagnostic visit | $125 – $250 |
| Replace a standard breaker | $175 – $400 |
| Replace or add a GFCI outlet | $150 – $300 |
These are approximate ranges, not quotes. They're based on typical Sacramento-area jobs. Your price depends on what we find at your home: panel condition, distance, access and permit fees. You'll get a clear price before any work starts.
A simple fix, like a failed GFCI or a loose connection, is usually one visit. Faults in walls or ceilings, or damaged wiring, take longer. So can problems that point to a bigger issue, like an overloaded service or a panel that needs replacing.
Throughout Sacramento and nearby cities, including Natomas, Arden-Arcade, Carmichael, Citrus Heights, Elk Grove, Rancho Cordova, Roseville and Folsom.
Usually the circuit is overloaded, meaning too many things are running on it. It can also be a short or ground fault in a device or the wiring, or a worn breaker. If it trips again right after you reset it, leave it off and call.
The most common cause is a tripped GFCI somewhere upstream, often in a bathroom, the garage or outside. Check and reset those first. If that doesn't do it, there's likely a loose connection at an outlet in the chain.
Yes. A warm outlet or switch plate usually means a loose or overheating connection. Unplug what's on it, turn off the breaker, and have it checked.
A brief dip when a big motor starts can be normal. Noticeable dimming across the house, or lights that get brighter as well, can point to a loose connection or an overloaded service and should be checked.
We don't recommend it. Working inside a panel means live service conductors even with the main off. A breaker that trips a lot is usually a symptom, not the problem.
Call and describe what's happening. We'll tell you whether it's safe to wait and get a licensed electrician out to fix it.

This company was amazing! When I called, they answered, and tried to go over trouble shooting with me on the phone. When we were not able to fix the issue over the hone, they came out THE SAME DAY! Not only that, they helped me determine it must be the SMUD box and helped me call SMUD to get them out the SAME DAY too! 10/10

Wonderful experience. Liam and Daniel were fantastic, and easy to work with - from getting quotes all the way to project completion. Absolutely professional, gave courtesy updates, and worked with my schedule. Will recommend Sagan Electric to anyone needing electrical work done. As a homeowner, it’s been a struggle to find contractors who are professional, doesn’t pressure you, friendly, and are easy-going. Sagan Electric is that unicorn contractor. Highly recommend! Edit: Dana processed my permits and rebates, and she is phenomenal! Consistent updates, and very clear communication. From the installer all the way to the back office, Sagan has exceeded my expectations. Great company.
